catch-up & reflections.

i feel like i haven't posted in awhile. and i mean really really really posted. two weeks is a long time! perhaps my valentine's day post merited a two-week break since it was quite dense and opinionated (and funny, right? ;) to be honest, i've been hanging out with friends, exploring seattle, and trying to fit in homework. as vapid and ridiculous as it might sound, i have a demanding social life. really, most people that live in dorms do. there is constantly something to do, people to hang out with, and places to go. i'm trying to enjoy the some-3 months i have left of it. i most likely will never have a living situation quite like this again.

last wednesday, my sister, nieces, and their aunt/cousins (confused yet?) came up to visit me at spu. (go here for my sister's & here for andrea's recount of the trip). one thing i thought was interesting was their view of the 90s. last week, kspu, our radio station, held a 90s-cover music event.  i really wanted to attend, but couldn't due to small group :(] one of my friends, bekah, went to it, and said it was great. from what i heard, there was a creed cover (think "with arms wide open") and she happened to win "the rants, raves, and thoughts of bill clinton" book.....which is HILARIOUS. we make fun of him all the time. anyhow, from what i gathered, they felt "old" because current college students were having a 90s-theme-party. this was when my peers and i grew up, and i think a lot of people have a nostaglia for it. whether it's nickelodeon, jellies, bagel bites, britney spears, etc. it reminds us of our childhood -- and at times, we all wish we could go back to that decade for a little bit. to be young. to be innocent. to be carefree. (i also posted about the 90s last year). chelsea compared my '90s to her '80s....which makes sense, seeing as we are nearly a decade apart. our generations aren't the same. now, don't get me wrong, i LOVE the 80s (as i'm sure anyone who knows me can tell you), but it doesn't hold quite the same sentimental values as it does for someone older than me. even as i type, "waterfalls" by TLC is playing on my itunes. yes this decade ended a mere 12 years ago, but then again, 12 years ago i was 7. time does fly, huh? despite all of that - i'm glad they came up! and i think they were glad too.

this week is going to be SUPER busy.....and i feel like i say that constantly, but i mean it.

  • 5 page paper due by friday
  • macroeconomics quiz friday
  • 2 page article response
  • accounting paper (yes....a PAPER) & homework
coffee will be a neccessity. i'm starting to think i should just hook up an IV of caffeine at all times. you know, wheel it around....bad idea??

i've got a celebrity story for you....ok, well not exactly a celebrity, but it's close enough. have you ever watched 'little people, big world' on tlc?? i watched it all the time in high school, partly because i thought think the oldest boy is cute, and partly because they live in oregon, which is close! anyhow, the only daughter, molly, is apparently a senior in high school and is currently on campus with her mom previewing spu. i kept hearing people talk about it, and then after class, i walked by a preview group and saw molly and her mom! it was pretty cool. i'm a sucker for that kind of thing.
also....today was SUNNY which is always a treat in seattle. even if it was only 45 degrees.....

before i get carried away with other random topics, i'm going to stop here. prayer would be appreciated this week. i love each and every one of y'all. yep. i just said y'all. get over it. :)
with love, C

PS.....today is my lovely friend ABBY's 20th BIRTHDAY!!!!! she is fabulous. and she even gets to watch the bachelor on her birthday......how lucky ;)
