hm.
so i thought i'd start a blog since it seems like everyone has one.
not exactly sure where this is going, what I'm saying, or who is reading. so be prepared haha.
I've come to the realization that I'm old. well, not old like one might think....I'm going to be a senior in high school. you have to realize that I've never been the oldest - in my family, in my grade, ever. I'm at the top, there's no one older to look up to or be afraid of. It's a strange feeling - I'm not sure what it's going to be like in the fall. I'm not used to people looking up to me - and to be honest, it's kind of scary. YOU'RE the role model, YOU'RE the one people look up to for help/advice...this position is completely new to me and I hope I can fulfill the position.
What else....it's finally summer which means A) no school B) sleeping in! C) did i mention no school?! Usually I would be excited (don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's summer) but I have to take an online class. I suppose it's my punishment for not getting a job haha. It's American Government which is going to be difficult because I've never taken a class like this before, let alone an online one. But if I pass it (cross your fingers!) I'll have my requirement done for my senior year, which will free up my schedule. We'll see how it goes! In addition to this class, for my AP Literature class next year we have a summer assignment...to read 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' and 'How to Read Literature like a Professor.' We're journaling about both of these which should be interesting. Lastly, in addition to the previous things mentioned, for my high school girls bible study, we're reading "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis and meeting every week to discuss it. I've heard it's complex and hard to understand, so pray for me that I'll get it! Needless to say, I've got my work cut out for me this summer. At least I don't have to wake up at 6:45! :)
My birthday is in 23 days (but who's counting) and I'm pretty excited. I remember when my sister turned 17 and said something like "turning 17 sucks because you don't get to do anything different" meaning that you already have your license and possibly a job, but you're not old enough to vote, fight in a war, buy cigarettes, etc. I know what you're thinking....what about going to see a rated R movie? We still lived in Salem then and there you had to be 18 to see a rated R movie. Lame, right? I was 8 when my sister turned 17 (9 years in case you have difficulty with math) and said to her "well there's a magazine named after your age!" to which i probably got a groan, an eye roll, or both. This time around, I live in washington and it's legal to buy rated R movie tickets when you're 17, so that is probably what I'll be doing. I need to find a movie worth seeing....nothing too gory, raunchy, etc. Then again that is the content of most rated R movies....oh well. I'll find one!
love.
